Beautiful Things - An Introduction

Art is very important.  It lifts our spirits, brings joy to our lives, exercises our brains, gives us stories to tell, paintings to enjoy, and movies to watch together.  Our world would be a sad place without creativity.

I've been working on this series since December, and even though it isn't entirely finished yet, I thought it would be a good time to start sharing it with y'all.  I know we're all anxious, concerned, and scared about what is happening with the virus.  But may I suggest stepping away from Facebook and the news for even just a moment.  Give yourself a break from the heaviness of the situation to enjoy something beautiful.

This series is simply a compilation of Beautiful Things I have come across over my years of browsing the internet.  I have separated most of them into categories, so each blog post will be about a specific category, but this introductory post is a bit of a catch-all for those Beautiful Things that didn't easily fit into one of the other categories.

I have seen a lot of talk lately about still helping out businesses during this time of isolation by ordering products online and buying giftcards.  I do think this is a lovely idea.  There are many things I would love to purchase from these talented individuals, but alas, money does not grow on trees, so I am limited in how much support I can offer.  But if you feel so moved, definitely support these individuals if you can.  Give them a little help and in return you will get to add a little more beauty to your life.

Karly creates amazing works of art by encasing pressed flowers in glass frames.  She also offers custom wedding bouquet framing and prints of her pressed flowers.  Her work is just the thing to brighten your walls during the gloomy winter days.

Real flowers embroidered on tulle.  I never would have thought to try this myself.  Her work is amazing!

We purchased a piece of painted lath artwork from Plum Tree Place a few years ago at the Zeeland Peddler's Market.  The rustic decor jives perfectly with our little craftsman home.

The Jungalow

Even though I've certainly been sucked into the Fixer Upper style craze, I still love color and some eclecticness when it comes to home decor.  Jungalow is the perfect place to go for boho inspiration, bold colors, and that funky little pillow or planter you didn't know you had to have.  Their Instagram posts remind me to not have my home decor so sterile and matchy-matchy.  Don't be afraid to be unique and adventurous when turning your house into a home.

Owner of the Wonder House in Bartow, Florida, Krislin is always baking, sewing, gardening, and sharing the restoration process of her historic home.  I am so envious of her delicious baked goods and her beautiful costumes make me yearn for time with my sewing machine.

I don't remember how I came across raudrukerin, but it was quite a few years ago.  Based in Berlin, they use urban structures to print graphic patterns on a variety of items.  Such a clever idea!

I hope you have enjoyed these first few Beautiful Things I have shared with you.  Keep an eye out for the next installment!
